MainConcept TotalCode Video Encoding Suite Adds Support for DivX HEVC to Enable Seamless, High-Quality Content Preparation

DivX, LLC, a leading provider of next-generation digital video solutions, today announced that the company’s MainConcept TotalCode video encoding suite of products, including TotalCode Enterprise 3.0, TotalCode Studio 3.1, and TotalCode Engine 4.0, now support encoding into H.265/HEVC, the latest video compression standard which offers significant advances in efficiency and visual quality as compared to H.264/AVC at the same bitrate, and includes support for DivX® HEVC profiles from SD to UltraHD (4K).

TotalCode Enterprise and TotalCode Engine have added support for the company’s patent-pending SABET™ (Smart Adaptive Bitrate Encoding Technology), which is designed to lower total transcoding time for HEVC adaptive streaming formats by up to 30%, in order to speed adoption of HEVC by reducing transcoding costs for large video content libraries. SABET encoding enables the generation of up to as many as ten simultaneous output streams from a single source, reducing CPU cycles by utilizing common encoding processes across all levels.

Additionally, the complete TotalCode product suite also adds support for 4K encoding, such as H.264/AVC and advanced camera formats such as XAVC-Intra. The latest release of TotalCode Enterprise now offers a flexible, cost effective means for companies to scale encoding resources as needed, with a new server rental model.

“Our TotalCode products provide content providers and content preparation houses with an off-the-shelf solution to professionally encode video in a broad range of digital distribution and broadcast formats, and we’re excited to add DivX HEVC to that list,” said Thomas Kramer, VP of Professional Products at DivX, LLC. “Our solution offers a highly scalable, cost-effective and extremely efficient way to prepare video in the most advanced format available, which can be played back on number of DivX Certified® HEVC devices available soon from major manufacturers.”

DivX Releases MainConcept HEVC SDK 3.0 with Support for Real-Time 1080p Encoding of High-Quality Video

DivX, Inc., a leading provider of next-generation digital video solutions, today announced the release of the MainConcept® HEVC SDK 3.0. The newest release of the industry leading HEVC encoding tool includes support for real-time encoding of 1080p video at 30 frames per second.

“We’re proud that the latest release of our high-quality HEVC encoder has realized definitive performance improvements, enabling real-time encoding and improved file based encoding performance for our customers,” said Thomas Kramer, VP of Professional Products at DivX, LLC. “MainConcept offers one of the most mature HEVC solutions on the market, providing not only quality and compression benefits but significant speed and performance improvements that will help accelerate the adoption of this great new technology across the industry.”

Additionally, the release includes enhancements to the decoders available for PC and ARM, which adds weighted prediction, PCM decoding and Transquant Bypass to support playback on content from other party codec vendors.

The MainConcept HEVC SDK continues to make strides on encoding quality and performance, based on numerous in-house tests, currently realizing 35-48 percent bitrate improvements over H.264 (MainConcept H.264 v9.8 encoder) in internal company benchmark tests. What’s more, the included and patent-pending SABET™ (Smart Adaptive Bitrate Encoding Technology) achieved more than a 30 percent performance gain with transcoding adaptive formats such as DivX® HEVC adaptive streaming.
