Use of the DivX Marks is restricted to officially licensed partners of DivX, LLC, and may only be used for specific purposes authorized by DivX. The DivX Marks are typically used in product packaging, documentation and marketing materials, although the specific authorized use may differ from partner to partner. High-resolution versions of the official DivX logos are included in branding packages that are delivered to authorized users. The branding guidelines included in these branding packages describe how the DivX logos may be used and displayed by partners who receive them. In addition, please review our guidelines below, which are applicable to all uses of our trademarks.
- Do not use our trademarks in a generic manner.
- Never modify or alter the trademarks.
- Always use proper trademark attribution.
- Do not use any DivX trademarks in the names of your products or services.
Do not use our trademarks in a generic manner
DivX® and associated DivX Marks are the registered trademarks of DivX, LLC, and may only be used to describe content offered in the DivX format and related products and services; not to describe digital video generally. If it’s not a DivX video product or service, you shouldn’t reference the DivX Marks. When referring to our products and services, the “DivX” brand name should be used as an adjective (not a verb or noun), followed by a description of our products or services, in a form similar to the following examples:
- “This product supports the DivX® format.” NOT “This product supports DivX”
- “Includes DivX® digital video technology.” NOT “DivX inside!”
Never modify or alter the trademarks
The DivX® trademark is a brand name that is spelled in a special way with distinctive capitalization.
- The DivX® trademark is properly spelled “DivX” with a capital “D” a capital “X”, and lowercase “i” and “v.” Proper capitalization is part of the trademark.
- Never make the trademark possessive, change the spelling, insert hyphens, make one word into two or make the trademark plural.
Always use proper trademark attribution
Your use of the DivX Marks must always be accompanied by the proper symbols and attribution. A trademark symbol is included for all prominent use of the mark, e.g., on labels, packaging, promotional brochures, data sheets, press releases and advertisement headlines, except where special space or style criteria prevent compliance. The proper trademark symbol for the DivX trademark is ® (superscript “(R)”). Please review the list of DivX Marks above for further information. If you cannot use the special character symbol for some reason, a text replacement will suffice (e.g., “DivX(R)” instead of “DivX®”). The name of the products or services identified by the trademark should immediately follow the trademark. For Example:
- DivX® media format
- DivX® video
- DivX® format
- DivX® codec
- NOT “DivX/MPEG-4 files”
Do not use any DivX trademarks in the names of your products or servicesThe DivX Marks may not be used in the name of your product or service. Further, you may not purchase, register or use any domain name or URL which incompanys any of the DivX Marks. For example, you may not call a product the “DivX Conversion Utility,” and you may not use “divxmedia.com” as your domain name.
Don’t steal from usYou may not use the DivX Marks without our prior consent, or to disparage DivX, our products or services, or in a manner which, in our reasonable judgment, may diminish or otherwise damage our company’s goodwill in the DivX Marks.
Don’t steal from othersWe like good movies about as much as the next guy, but we do not endorse or support the unauthorized use of copyrighted materials. Don’t even think of using DivX, LLC’s trademarks to promote such things.
Changes to These GuidelinesDivX reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify these guidelines at any time. DivX also reserves the right to take action against any use that does not conform to these guidelines.
