Wohler Will Enable Customers to Easily Create High-Quality DivX® HEVC Files for Distribution to Multiple Devices
SAN DIEGO, CA, September 12, 2014—DivX, LLC, a leading provider of next-generation digital video solutions, today announced that Wohler Technologies has licensed the MainConcept® HEVC SDK, including support for DivX® HEVC technology, to enable file-based content preparation through Wohler’s RadiantGrid™ content distribution and transformation platform.
The MainConcept HEVC solution has been widely deployed by a number of companies across the video value chain seeking to meet the market demand for next-generation video. An implementation of the emerging H.265 video standard, the MainConcept HEVC SDK offers superior encoding quality, high compression efficiency and optimized system performance, along with ease of implementation designed to minimize time-to-market.
“The MainConcept® HEVC SDK offers a high-quality, production-ready HEVC encoder that is optimal for file-based software solutions such as Wohler’s RadiantGrid™ platform,” said Thomas Kramer, VP of Professional Products at DivX, LLC. “Additionally, by supporting the included DivX® HEVC profile, Wohler is joining a large number of partners tapping into the DivX ecosystem spanning devices, software and service offerings.”
“We are committed to advancing our RadiantGrid™ platform to support the latest video standards our customers require, and MainConcept offers proven high-quality technology expertise and an industry-leading HEVC solution,” said Craig Newbury, Vice President, RadiantGrid at Wohler Technologies. “We are also pleased to add support for the DivX® HEVC ecosystem, which will provide our customers the ability to encode high-quality HEVC content for over-the-top video services and playback on a variety of devices.”
The MainConcept HEVC SDK continues to make strides on encoding quality and performance, based on numerous in-house tests, currently realizing 30-45 percent bitrate improvements over H.264 in internal company benchmark tests. The patent-pending Smart Adaptive Bitrate Encoding Technology (SABET™) achieved more than a 30 percent performance gain with transcoding adaptive formats such as DivX HEVC adaptive streaming.
MainConcept is the leading provider of video and audio encoding, decoding, transcoding and streaming technologies. With offerings that range from individual components for software developers to ready to use enterprise transcoding solutions, MainConcept’s video technology deliver exceptionally high quality, high performance and bitrate efficient solutions for digital media professionals. MainConcept’s HEVC offering is part of the DivX end-to-end HEVC solution, which is designed to accelerate the adoption of the latest compression standard across the entire video distribution system, spanning the creation, delivery and multi-screen playback of high quality content.
