Winners Announced in First DivX MVWire Music Video Contest

Miami–October 28, 2005–Claire de Lune, Jackson United and The 88 were among the winners of the first annual DivX MVWire Music Video Contest, honoring the contributions of independent filmmakers to the production of music videos for emerging artists. Awards were given out in five categories, Best Animation, Best Narrative Video, Best Performance Video, Best Visual Effects and Audience Choice, with the winners receiving prizes that included DivX Certified Consumer Electronics devices and software applications.

Director Andrea Giacomini picked up the Audience Choice Award for Sleeping While You Drive by the electronica group Socadia. J.J. Johnstone won for Best Animation and Best Performance Video for Passenger View by the Minneapolis quintet Claire de Lune. Other winners included Dean DeBlois (Best Narrative Video for Jackson United’s Long Shadow) and Michael (Best Visual Effects for The 88’s Hide Another Mistake).

“We are thrilled by the response the DivX MVWire Music Video Contest received from filmmakers, from bands and from music fans,” said MVWire founder Will Brown. “The quality and imagination evident in the winning videos is a testament to the talents of independent filmmakers. Finalists were chosen by a panel of music video industry professionals, including Catherine Finkenstaedt, executive producer of Los Angeles production company The Mine, and Jennifer Amerine, directors representative for music videos at @radical media. Winners were chosen through an online viewers poll.

Winning videos are available for download in their entirety in high quality DivX video at www.divx.com. Viewers may watch the winning films on any television or PC. More than 50 million DivX Certified chips have shipped and are powering a range of consumer electronics devices, including from the world’s leading brands.
