DivX® Addresses the Challenges and Opportunities of 4K at 2014 Streaming Media West Panel Session

November 11, 2014

SAN DIEGO, CA, November 11, 2014 — DivX, LLC, a leading provider of next-generation digital video solutions, will participate in “The 4K Ecosystem: Opportunities and Challenges in the 4K Workflow” panel session at the 2014 Streaming Media West conference being held November 18-19 at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach, CA. In the session, DivX President & CEO Kanaan Jemili, Ph.D., will draw upon the company’s expertise in multi-screen video delivery to discuss how service providers can embrace the 4K opportunity while addressing the key challenges of delivering 4K streams across the entire workflow and supply chain.

During the panel discussion, Jemili will highlight key elements and challenges of 4K content creation, protection and delivery, along with the 4K timeline, real dates for 4K deployment and how OTT 4K streaming compares to other delivery methods, including physical media and 4K over pay TV.

“The advent of 4K is only going to fuel the accelerating consumer demand for high-quality content any time, anywhere,” said Jemili. “That’s why it’s critical to address some of the most pressing issues in the over-the-top (OTT) delivery of 4K content now, from standardizing the content experience across multiple devices to content protection and beyond.”

During the session, Jemili will offer insight gleaned from DivX’s leading position as a technology enabler of secure OTT delivery across multiple screens to provide real-world solutions to the challenges of 4K streaming. DivX is the developer of DivX® OmniView™, an end-to-end solution enabling pay TV operators, broadcasters and service providers to create, distribute and playback secure OTT video across an array of screens, including web, mobile, smart TVs, and set-top boxes.

“With the DivX® OmniView™ solution, we’re delivering a unique set of technologies that enable OTT services and platforms to differentiate their services, reduce costs and expand their audiences,” said Jemili. “Its development has given DivX tremendous insight into the changing landscape of the viewing experience, including the delivery of OTT 4K streaming content. We are grateful to have the opportunity to share our experience and expertise with Streaming Media West 2014 attendees.”

“The 4K Ecosystem: Opportunities and Challenges in the 4K Workflow” panel discussion will take place on Tuesday, November 18, from 10:30-11:15 a.m. (PT).

The 2014 Streaming Media West show will feature 100-plus speakers across more than 40 sessions and workshops. For more information, visit: https://www.streamingmedia.com/west.
