April 26, 2005

ONTARIO & SAN DIEGO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 26, 2005–Apex Digital Inc., one of America’s leading sellers of consumer electronics, announced today that it is releasing its first DivX(R) Certified home DVD player. The first DVD player product of a wide ranging strategic partnership between DivX, Inc. and Apex Digital, the AD-1250X will be available from retailers across the country this month. The AD-1250X offers users unprecedented flexibility in watching pre-recorded discs and discs that they have created from their own multimedia content. Apex plans to have all of its new products DivX Certified.

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous quality and compatibility testing program to ensure interoperability, security and visual quality. DivX Certified products enable consumers to create, play and share high-quality video content across a range of devices and platforms. Over 20 million DivX Certified devices from a variety of manufacturers shipped worldwide in 2004, and Apex Digital plans to extend DivX Certification for its complete line of video devices available at major retail outlets across North America.

The AD-1250X couples high quality, Progressive Scan, pre-recorded DVD video and CD audio playback with the ability to also handle DVD+/-R/RW, CD-R/RW and Kodak Picture CD discs. In addition to the DivX compatibility, the AD-1250X can also display JPEG images and playback audio files stored in the MP3 and Windows Media Audio formats.

“Our customers have told us that they want the flexibility to playback more of their entertainment content on one device, regardless of file format,” said Apex Digital’s Sal Fiore. “Apex was one of the first manufacturers to build MP3 and JPEG playback into our devices, and now that DivX has emerged as a hugely popular consumer format, we want to be among the first to offer customers the ability playback those files on their TV’s in their living rooms.”

“Apex Digital has a proven track record of bringing to market affordable, innovative products and we are pleased to work together to bring a complete line of DivX Certified devices to U.S. consumers,” said Bill Holmes, Vice President of Consumer Electronics at DivX, Inc. “As the first DivX Certified DVD player from Apex, the AD-1250X offers flexibility, performance and ease-of-use, enabling consumers to easily enjoy high-quality, highly-compressed DivX videos in the comfort of the living room.”

Suggested retail price of the AD-1250X is $69.00.
