DivX Announces the Panasonic “UniPhier” as the World’s First DivX Certified® Blu-ray Chip to Support Full HD Playback

Chip Enables a Powerful 1080p Playback Experience on the Newest Blu-ray Players

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–DivX, Inc. (NASDAQ:DIVX), a digital media company, today announced that the UniPhier® System LSI (Model: MN2WS0043DA) of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. has achieved DivX Certification™ for 1080p high-definition playback, the first chip announced to have achieved DivX HD Certification for use in the latest Blu-ray devices.

The UniPhier (Universal Platform for High-quality Image Enhancing Revolution) System LSI of Semiconductor Company of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called “Panasonic”) is an integrated multimedia chip platform that enables standard and high-definition video solutions for DivX playback on a wide range of Blu-ray digital products, digital TVs, DVD players and more. UniPhier released a DivX Certified® home theater chip in January, which has already been used in popular Blu-ray players and home theater systems.
