Highly Integrated MS8310 Will Enable Playback of Enhanced Interactive Features

MILPITAS, Calif. & SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Magnum Semiconductor, Inc. and DivX, Inc., today announced that the Magnum MS8310 processor is now DivX Ultra Certified, allowing users to playback DivX format videos with advanced features such as menus, chapters, subtitles and alternate audio tracks in consumer electronics products.
The Magnum MS8310 is a highly integrated video processor that provides all audio and video processing functions needed for the next generation of feature-rich DVD players and recorders, Intelligent Digital TVs and portable DVD devices. With more than 180 million software product downloads worldwide, DivX is a digital media format that enables video to be compressed so that it uses only a fraction of the amount of data required by a standard-length DVD for secure playback on PCs and more than 1,800 models of consumer electronics devices.

“The Magnum Semiconductor MS8310 has become even more attractive for new video recorder devices by becoming DivX Ultra Certified,” said Brian Heuckroth, vice president of marketing for Magnum Semiconductor. “We are seeing significant demand for DivX from our customers and the new features in DivX Ultra are a leap ahead in functionality.”

“As a fully DivX Ultra Certified processor, the Magnum MS8310 gives OEMs the ability to offer their users a complete digital entertainment experience that bridges the gap between the PC and the television,” said Kevin Hell, CXO, Partners and Licensing at DivX, Inc. “We’re excited to partner with Magnum to bring this versatile processor to the market.”

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure interoperability, security and visual quality. DivX Certified products enable consumers to create, play and share high-quality video content across a range of devices and platforms. More than 46 million DivX Certified devices have shipped from the world’s leading brands. About DivX, Inc.

DivX creates products and services designed to improve the experience of media. We also license our technologies to consumer hardware device manufacturers and certify their products to ensure the interoperable support of DivX-encoded content. More than 46 million DivX Certified hardware devices have been shipped worldwide, including more than 10 million devices reported to us by our customers during the second quarter of 2006. In addition to technology licensing to consumer hardware device manufacturers, we currently generate revenue from software licensing, advertising and content distribution.
