MainConcept Extends its Video and Audio Codec Leadership With ‘All-in-One’ Cross-Platform Release for Professional Developers

March 27, 2008

AACHEN, Germany, March 27 /PRNewswire/ — MainConcept AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DivX, Inc. NASDAQ: DIVX, and one of the world’s leading providers of video and audio codecs and software development kits (SDK) to the broadcast, film and consumer markets, today announced the release of its Codec SDK 7.5, a package of various industry leading codecs now available across multiple platforms such as Windows, Mac/Intel and Linux.
MainConcept is the first industry-wide vendor providing its broad range of codecs in one concise package for Windows, Mac/Intel and Linux simultaneously, delivering on its mission to make every codec available for every platform. Based on a comprehensive set of industry codecs such as H.264, MPEG-2, DVCPRO HD, JPEG 2000, and Dolby(R)Digital, professional software developers are now able to seamlessly integrate low level codec components and DirectShow filters for video and audio encoding and decoding into their own solutions for any major PC platform. This allows developers to massively reduce integration work, saving time and money, while increasing the overall solution quality as everything is based on the same line of code.

This new cross-platform release of MainConcept’s Codec SDK offers value to an extensive range of applications and markets, enabling the Company to now serve various market segments at once, including broadcast and production studios that utilize a wide range of platforms with a large installed base of Linux and Mac/Intel systems.

“Making our Codec SDK available for Windows, Mac/Intel and Linux OS at the same time and founded on one source code base is a major step for us,” said Muzaffer Beygirci, Vice President, Worldwide Sales at MainConcept. “We are now in an excellent position to further extend our footprint in the marketplace. Not only will professional developers benefit from the added cross platform support, but also our ‘prosumer’ customers will cash in on our integrated approach with an upcoming release of MainConcept Reference for professional transcoding.”

MainConcept has added the full cross platform support for its Codec SDK 7.5 and brings numerous enhanced features to its customers such as:

– Speed improvements for the H.264/AVC Decoder

– New encoding presets for Sony’s XDCAM and XDCAM EX

– MPEG-2 Encoder speed improvement of up to 30 percent on Dual-Core systems

– VC-1 Encoder and ASF Muxer also support Simple and Main Profiles

The full feature list of the new Codec SDK 7.5, as well as a full list of supported codecs, is available at https://www.mainconcept.com.
