New DivX(R) Mobile Theater Certification Program Offers High-Quality Video Experience

February 16, 2009

Supports premium content playback in the DivX format

SAN DIEGO and BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — DivX, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIVX), a digital media company, today announced at GSMA Mobile World Congress the release of its new Mobile Theater Certification program. This certification will allow mobile phone manufacturers to offer consumers a high-quality DivX(R) video experience including support for premium content.

Mobile Theater Certification takes advantage of improved IC capabilities to offer a home theater-like experience at standard definition resolutions on a variety of mobile devices. With DivX Mobile Theater, mobile licensees can ensure their phones support studio requirements for premium content playback in the DivX format, provide true DVD-like quality, and offer an improved user experience.

The new certification profile supports DivX Home Theater resolution video natively on the phone. Users can easily play most standard definition Internet video content by dragging and dropping the files onto their phone with no conversion necessary.

Also, with high-quality resolution playback, consumers who own phones with a TV-Out feature can playback video content from their phone directly on the TV turning their device into a powerful portable media player.

DivX technology allows movies to be compressed to a fraction of their original size, while maintaining excellent visual quality. Users can store up to 10 DVDs on their phone with 8GB of internal memory or a removable card, and watch their collection of videos anywhere they choose.

“We have raised the bar even higher for a true DVD-like experience in the living room or on the go,” said Kevin Hell, Chief Executive Officer, DivX, Inc. “DivX Mobile Theater Certification offers a seamless video playback experience on mobile devices for all types of video content — user-generated, Internet and premium content.”

The certification kit is now available to DivX IC and OEM licensees. For more information on the DivX Mobile program, see www.divx.com/mobile.

Products that bear the DivX Certified(R) logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.
