Why have DivX products been put into software bundles?
DivX products have been combined into two different software bundles for Windows to make it clearer what each product does. Simply put, we thought that gathering everything you need to play a DivX file (the DivX codec, DivX Player and DivX Web Player) into one package and calling that package the DivX Play Bundle and then gathering everything you need to create and play a DivX file (DivX Player, DivX Web Player, DivX Pro codec and DivX Converter) into another package and calling that the DivX Create Bundle would make it easier for everyone to understand what our products actually do.
Additionally, the DivX 6 for Mac download is available and includes the DivX codec with Pro features, DivX playback support and the DivX Converter, allowing Mac users to easily play and create DivX videos.
Which bundle should I download?
While consulting astrological charts, tarot cards, psychics, Ouija boards or even flipping a coin will help you make this decision, your best bet would be to read what each bundle does and see which one best matches your needs.
Can I just download the DivX Player?
The DivX Player is available within the DivX Play Bundle or DivX Create Bundle download. If you're interested in simply watching DivX files, download the DivX Play Bundle to get the latest DivX Player. Regardless of which bundle you choose to download, the DivX Player will not expire.
How much does DivX Create or DivX Play cost?
DivX Create:
The DivX Create Bundle (includes the latest version of the DivX Converter, DivX Pro, DivX Web Player and DivX Player) is available for $19.99 USD. The DivX Converter MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in can be purchased for an additional $9.99 USD.
There is also a free trial version of the DivX Create Bundle with a 15-day trial of the DivX Converter and a 15-day trial of DivX Pro. (You will need to purchase the full DivX Create Bundle if you wish to continue using DivX Pro or the DivX Converter after your trial periods end.)
If you are a registered user of Dr. DivX or DivX Pro, you are eligible to purchase the DivX Create Bundle for a special price.
DivX Play:
The DivX Play Bundle is free.
Can I still get something for free?
Um, did you read the answer above? Yes! A free trial version of the DivX Create Bundle is available and the DivX Play Bundle is completely free. You can also find free movie trailers and other content on DivX.com. (And we're not charging you to read this FAQ, though donations are always welcome.)
Just between you and me, what's the difference between the DivX Create and DivX Play Bundles?
One of the bundles contains a secret recipe for a delicious and wholesome vegetable soup, but we're not at liberty to say which one. Besides that, the differences are best explained here. (If pressed, we'd say the main difference besides the soup thing is that one bundle gives you the ability to create DivX videos - which one do you think that is?)
Can I buy the DivX Converter or DivX Pro codec alone?
Short answer: no. Long answer: the DivX Converter and DivX Pro are available together (along with the latest DivX Player and DivX web Player) within the DivX Create Bundle. DivX Create sells for $19.99 USD and there is a DivX Converter MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in available for an additional $9.99 USD.

Are DivX 6 products available for Mac users?
Yes! DivX 6 for Mac is available and Mac users can now easily create and play DivX videos. The free DivX 6 for Mac download includes DivX playback support (including the DivX Web Player for Mac) and the DivX codec (with a free 6-month trial of Pro features) and a 15-day trial of the DivX Converter. To continue using the DivX Converter or the Pro features of the DivX codec after the trial periods expire, you will need to purchase DivX 6 for Mac for $19.99 USD. Previously registered users of DivX Pro for Mac are eligible for an upgrade.
Are DivX 6 products available for Windows 98/Me users?
The DivX Create Bundle and DivX Play Bundle are not supported on Windows 98 or Windows Me. You can still use the DivX Player 2.6 to watch high-quality DivX videos. Learn more and download the DivX Player 2.6 here.
Why would I want the DivX Converter MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in? How much is it?
The DivX Converter MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in is an additional $9.99 USD when you buy the DivX Create Bundle. The plug-in can be used to encode MPG, VOB, TS and SVCD files. If you are a previously registered user of Dr. DivX or DivX Pro, you are entitled to a specially priced purchase of the DivX Create Bundle and the MPEG-2/DVD plug-in. Whatever happened to Dr. DivX?
We have a new, drag-and-drop encoding application called the DivX Converter and we no longer offer Dr. DivX on DivX.com. But we're currently working on a new open source version of the good doctor and you can still use your existing copy of Dr. DivX as well as get any support you may need through DivX.com. Like we've said about 15 times now, if you're a previously registered user of Dr. DivX, you are entitled to a specially priced purchase of the DivX Create Bundle and the DivX Converter MPEG-2/DVD Plug-in.
If a train leaving New York for Los Angeles is traveling at a speed of 120 miles per hour and stops every three hours, how long before there will be an update to the DivX bundles?
Are you sure you want to take a train from New York to LA? That's going to take forever, even if it's going 120 miles an hour. Planes go much faster than that, plus you get peanuts. As for the second part of the question, new DivX updates are always in the works. You will be automatically prompted to install any product updates when a new version is available.
How do I get updates for the bundle download?
Updates will be free with your purchase or trial of the DivX Create Bundle or download of the DivX Play Bundle. All DivX 6 products include an automatic update system that will prompt you to update whenever a new version of the software is available.
What bundle do I need to watch purchased or rented DivX movies?
Both DivX Create and DivX Play Bundles include the DivX Player and will work perfectly to watch purchased or rented DivX movies. If you want to burn your protected DivX movie to a CD or DVD to watch on a certified DVD player (or any other certified device), you'll need the DivX Player to download the activation file. If you are using an older version of the player, remember that the DivX Player 2.6 does not support purchased or rented DivX movies.
Will current DivX Certified devices play DivX 6 content with advanced media features?
Yes. Specifically, DivX files created with the DivX 6 codec will be fully compatible with existing DivX Certified devices. DivX Certified devices also offer limited support for subtitles and multiple audio tracks. Full support for all advanced features including interactive video menus, subtitles and more, will be supported on DivX Ultra Certified devices.
Does my existing DivX Certified device play back subtitles and audio tracks in different languages?
DivX Certified devices (such as DVD players) have limited support for these specific advanced media features. DivX Ultra Certified devices however, will offer full support for all the advanced features of DivX.
